Looking for a place that’s fun for the whole family all year
round? Well Killington, Vermont is your place! Whether you go in the middle of
the winter to try snowboarding, or you go in the summer for a round of golf,
Killington has something for everyone!
When people think of Vermont, they think of lots of snow and
skiing. If this is what you enjoy, then I suggest visiting Killington in the winter. A good place to stay is the Killington Grand Hotel, which is located right on Killington Mountain. In fact, there is even a special
part of the hotel that is dedicated to skiers and snowboarders. There is a
convenient door that leads you right to one of the lifts which will take you up
the mountain!
The Grand has a Health Center, which includes lots of
workout equipment, a sauna, steam room, a 75-foot heated pool, and two hot
tubs. There is also the Killington Grand Spa. Along with signature body and
facial treatments, they also bring you the best professional line of skin and
hair products.
Although these amenities may sound nice, it comes with a
cost. Say you visit the mountain in the middle of December for two nights and
you bring along your family of four. A room with two queens (which is a
standard hotel room) will cost you $224 a night, along with about $32 in other
charges, for a total of about $480.
If you are on a strict budget, I do not recommend eating at
the Ovations Restaurant which is located inside the Grand. It can be a bit pricey. There are many delis and convenience stores outside the
Grand that you can visit to get a steaming cup of coffee for you and some
cereal for the kids for a lot cheaper than you would get at the Ovations.
Staying at the Killington Grand isn't your only option if
you wish to visit Killington for your next family vacation. There are other
lodging options around the mountain, such as The Mountain Inn and the Greenbrier Inn, which
range in prices anywhere from $180 to $200 a night. While in Killington in the
winter, you don’t have to ski and snowboard all the time. You can go tubing,
snowshoeing, or do so many other things.
What if you’re not a winter person? Maybe you don’t enjoy
skiing. Well that doesn't mean you can’t still come visit Killington, Vermont
in the off season! There is still so much to do in the spring/summer. One thing I suggest doing is stopping at
Bromley Adventure Center on the way to Killington. It is a nice stop for the kids if they have been in
the car for a while. At Bromley, there is so much to do! The best is the AlpineSlide. It is loads of fun for the kids! It’s a whole two-thirds of a mile, and you can
control your speed. There are also other fun things like the Climbing Wall, the
Space Bikes, many different zip lines, and if you aren't that adventurous,
there is the scenic chairlift ride. There is a small place at Bromley to eat some lunch, and then the Killington
Grand is only 20 minutes away.
Once you get to the Killington Grand, or wherever else you
wish to stay on the mountain, there are so many different things you can do.
You can take the K-1 gondola on the other side of Killington Mountain to the summit and take a hike to the
very top. The scenery is breath taking.
You could also play a few rounds of golf. The Killington golf course is a beautiful course. It’s a par 72, but you don’t have to play a game of golf. The 14-station golf
course is as beautiful and can help you prepare for that upcoming game of golf
with friends. A game of golf ranges anywhere from $15 to $60, depending on your
age and what day of the week it is.
Killington, Vermont really is a beautiful place, both in the
winter and in the off season. But don’t let me tell you. Go experience it for
yourself!
